Public Sector Hiring Reform
President Obama’s memorandum “Improving the Federal Recruitment and Hiring Process” offers new thinking in US government recruiting by encouraging federal hiring reform using proven private sector methods.
Federal agencies are directed towards these specific areas for improvements that private sector companies using talent management already enjoy:
• Candidate experience
• Recruiter and hiring manager collaboration
• Time-to-hire cycles
• Candidate expectations
Making government recruiting competitive and comparable with the private sector starts with process and technology. As a global leader in talent management and eRecruitment software, Taleo knows the power of process based on more than ten years serving nearly half the Fortune 100.
Overhauling methods and systems has its challenges. Federal Hiring Reform Will Require Culture Change; it’s not purely an HR issue but one that will affect how everyone in government works to adapt to the new hiring process.
If support for talent management is any indicator, the US Army is on target. Army brass responded with great enthusiasm to the talent intelligence strategy as presented by Taleo CEO Michael Gregoire at the Army's Senior Conference 2010 at West Point.
We anticipate additional insights on Leadership: Taking Charge from General Colin Powell as a keynote speaker in Chicago at Taleo World.
