Global 500 Web Site Recruiting, 2001 Survey

The annual survey of Global 500 companies conducted by Taleo Research shows a steady annual increase in adoption by Global 500 companies, growing from only 29 percent in 1998, to 60 percent in 1999, 79 percent in 2000 and 88 percent in 2001.

Important trends cited in 2001

  • The largest increase in the adoption rate for corporate Web site recruiting occurred among Global 500 companies located in the Asia-Pacific region, with an increase of 20 percent over the last year, to 88 percent of Asia-Pacific Global 500 companies.
  • European companies saw an increase in online recruiting of 10 percent, to 83 percent of European Global 500 companies.
  • North American Global 500 companies increased just one percent, to a leading 93 percent, approaching saturation in career Web site recruiting.

Taleo Research expects

  • By 2002, Taleo Research continues to expect that nearly 100 percent of the Global 500 will be utilizing corporate Web sites for recruiting, with late adopters coming in 2003.

Opportunities
The results of the 2001 survey confirm that the world’s largest companies have recognized the significant branding opportunity inherent in Web site traffic. Though, the front end of the Careers section represents only the first step; the opportunity remains for large corporations that marry the front-end careers Web site with a back-end automation solution, facilitating global communication.
