Resume search
A resume search is usually launched via internet search engines or directly in resume databases. The most common resume searches use keywords to identify skills, qualifications, background information on candidates. More advanced resume databases, such as the one developed by Taleo, allow users to search sets or groupings of candidate information. For example, instead of simply searching for an education level, a user can launch a search on candidates meeting the grouping of requirements of location, pre-defined aptitudes, skills and education.
Here are some important tips to consider when searching resumes:
- Precision resume searching: you should know exactly what are the important criteria for finding the desired resume. The high volume of candidate resumes often found in databases require searches to be precise. If your search is too vague the results retrieved may prove overwhelming.
- Boolean logic for searching resumes: resume databases with the most advanced features allow the use the Boolean operators: and; or; not. This can save you a lot of time by telling the search technology to exclude search criteria to effectivel narrow down results.
